Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
